Scripture Reading: Joshua 23:14-16
“And now I am about to go the way of all the earth, and you know in your hearts and souls, all of you, that not one word has failed of all the good things that the Lord your God promised concerning you; not one of them has failed.” (Joshua 23:14)
As Joshua approached the end of his life, he reminded the people of the faithfulness of God — “You know in your hearts and souls, all of you, that not one word has failed of all the good things that the Lord your God promised concerning you; not one of them has failed.” Psalm 33:4 says, “For the word of the Lord is upright and all His work is done in faithfulness.” When God makes a promise, He is faithful to fulfill it.
God has promised us many great blessings. He is all powerful and all wise; He will do what He says. The writer to the Hebrews put it this way — “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering for He who promised is faithful” (Hebrews 10:23). Even if we have to wait for the fulfillment of God’s promises, we do not lose hope because “He who promised is faithful.”
Think of all the good things God has promised us and remember the words of Scripture — “For all the promises of God find their Yes in Him. That is why it is through Him that we utter our Amen to God for His glory” (II Corinthians 1:20). As you read your Bible, pay attention to God’s promises; there are thousands of them. Be assured that God will fulfill them on His timetable.
Because we all face times of struggle and doubt, we may get discouraged at times. But never forget these things — God is God. God is good. God always knows and does what is best for His children. He is a faithful God who does what He says He will do.
Lord God, thank you for all the promises You have made to Your children. I have seen the fulfillment of many of them in my life and I am fully confident that You will bring to pass all the other promises You have made to me. You are a faithful God!
