Scripture Reading: Romans 3:1-8
“What if some were unfaithful? Does their faithlessness nullify the faithfulness of God?” (Romans 3:3)
I am so thankful that God’s faithfulness to us is not dependent upon our faithfulness to Him. God is loyal to His promises, constant in His love and steadfast toward His children. He remains faithful even when we are not faithful to Him. “He who calls you is faithful; He will surely do it” (I Thessalonians 5:24).
God makes it clear to us — “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness” (Lamentations 3:22). God’s steadfast love for us never ceases; His mercies never come to an end! God’s faithfulness is based on His character — He must always remain true to His nature — “If we are faithless, He remains faithful — for He cannot deny Himself” (II Timothy 2:13).
Let me say it again — God’s faithfulness is not dependent upon our faithfulness. Aren’t you glad of this? He will never give up on us. He will never cease loving us and showing us His mercy. He was faithful when He sent Jesus to save us and He will always be faithful to never let us go.
The words of Thomas Chisholm’s hymn sum it up best — “Great is Thy faithfulness, O God, my Father. There is no shadow of turning with Thee; Thou changes not, Thy compassions fail not. As Thou hast been Thou forever will be. Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness! Morning by morning new mercies I see; all I have needed Thy hand hath provided — Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me.”
Lord God, I am so thankful that You are a faithful God. I confess that i am unfaithful to You at times. Yet, I know that Your love for me never ceases and You will not let me go. Great is Your faithfulness, Lord, unto me!
