PEACE WITH GOD (PART II)

Scripture Reading:  Romans 5:1-5

“Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”  (Romans 5:1)

The greatest effect of our justification is that we have peace with God.  We are no longer separated from Him.  We are loved and accepted by Him. We are in a right relationship with the holy God of this universe.  All hostility is gone!  Do you realize how much peace and satisfaction this should give us?

We can now be at rest in our minds for we are right with God.  We understand the meaning of Christ’s death in our place.  We realize that we have been reconciled to God through the death and resurrection of our Savior.  We can rest because we know God justifies the ungodly.

Because we have peace with God, we know that God loves and accepts us — “But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (v. 8).  Nothing is more wonderful than to know that God loves you and accepts you to be His own possession.

Because we have peace with God, we do not fear death and judgment.  We know that we are eternally secure.  We know that Christ has prepared a place for us in the life to come.  We are destined for glory and we will join the great host in heaven who are worshiping and serving the Lamb who sits upon His throne.

Because we have peace with God, we know that when we fall into sin that we are able to repent and to experience God’s love and forgiveness.  We all continue to sin but God is quick to forgive, for we are at peace with Him.  And as we confess our sins, repent and accept Christ’s forgiveness, we can experience the peace of God again.

Lord Jesus, You made it possible for me to be at peace with God.  Thank You for the great benefits of being at peace with God.  I am no longer separated from Him, but instead I am loved and accepted by Him.  I have nothing to fear for I am in a right relationship with my Heavenly Father.  Now I can experience the peace of God in my life.
