UNREACHED PEOPLE

Scripture Reading: Romans 15:14-21

“And thus I make it my ambition to preach the gospel, not where Christ has already been named, lest I build on someone else’s foundation, but as it is written, ‘Those who have never been told of Him will see, and those who have never heard will understand.'” (Romans 15:20,21)

Paul had a heart for unreached people. His desire was to take the gospel to areas where it had not been preached. He wanted all people to have the opportunity to hear the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ.

We also should have a burden for the unreached people groups around the world. It has been estimated that there are approximately 3.14 billion people who have not had the opportunity to hear the gospel. Most of these people live in parts of the world that are dominated by Islam and Hinduism. They live in what is called the 10/40 window — the area from West Africa between 10 degrees latitude north of the equator to 40 degrees north. Sixty percent of unreached people groups live in countries closed to missionaries.

God gives great hope for these unreached people — “Those who have never been told of Him will see, and those who have never heard will understand.” We must pray for a fresh movement of God among these people. We must pray for missionaries who are working under cover in these sensitive areas.

Jesus is not coming again until the gospel is preached to all nations — “And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come” (Matthew 24:14).

O Sovereign Lord of the nations, I pray for the unreached people of this world, those who have not had an opportunity to hear the good news of Jesus Christ. I pray for missionaries who are working in sensitive areas. Protect them and give them opportunities to share the gospel with those they come in contact with. I pray for a fresh movement of Your Spirit among the nations. I claim the promise of Your Word that “those who have never been told of Him will see, and those who have never heard will understand.”
