Scripture Reading: Philippians 2:14-18
“Do all things without grumbling or questioning, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world.” (Philippians 2:14,15)
We have to take responsibility to work out our salvation through our daily living. We begin with the right attitude — “Do all things without grumbling or questioning.” It is easy to complain when things aren’t going our way. But life is full of detours. Rather than complaining or grumbling, we must rest in God’s sovereignty. He allows things to come into our lives that we may not understand or like. The real question is — Do we trust Him no matter what?
We also are responsible to keep ourselves pure and clean. Of course, we realize that this is impossible without the power of the Holy Spirit. God has called us to a life of holiness. We make choices everyday — we choose to obey Him or not to obey Him. It is so easy to give way to our sinful desires. We must take responsibility for the choices we make.
We must realize that we have been justified through faith. Therefore we are able to be lights in this dark world of sin. We live among sinful people. We face temptations each day. We are responsible to choose light over darkness, obedience over disobedience. Yet, none of this is possible without Christ. We must draw off His presence and power as we seek to yield to His will for our lives.
Lord Jesus, enable me to do all things without grumbling or questioning. Keep me close to You and give me the strength to live a holy life today. I cannot do it without Your presence and power. Let me be a light to those who are walking in darkness.
