KNOWING CHRIST

Scripture Reading: Philippians 3:7-11

“That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and may share His sufferings, becoming like Him in His death, that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead.” (Philippians 3:10,11)

The driving value of Paul’s life was to know Christ in deeper and better ways. Christianity is not about religion; it is about a relationship with Jesus Christ. It is not about our religious traditions or actions; it is about knowing and loving Jesus in a personal way.

To develop any relationship, you must spend time with another person. You must listen to him, talk to him, and enjoy being with him. The same is true with our relationship with Jesus Christ. We must spend time with Him as we listen to Him speak to us through His Word. We must talk to Him — that is what prayer is; it is talking with God. We must be still and enjoy times of fellowship with Him.

When we get to know Him better, we will know the power of His resurrection. We will experience His power in our weaknesses. We will draw off HIs power when we think we cannot do what He is asking us to do. We will be able to do all things through Christ who strengthens us (Philippians 4:13).

As we know Him better, we will also share in His sufferings. We will realize more and more what He suffered for us and we will be given opportunities to have small tastes of His sufferings when we suffer.

Nothing is more important than knowing Christ. Make time to get to know Him better. Read His Word and listen to what He has to say to you. And tell Him how much you love Him and appreciate all He has done for you. He delights in having fellowship with us.

Lord Jesus, may my greatest desire be to know You in deeper and better ways. Enable to me know Your heart and mind. When I suffer, let me rejoice in the fact that I can share in a very small way in Your sufferings. May Your power be perfected in my weaknesses.
