Scripture Reading: Isaiah 43:1-13
“I have called you by name, you are Mine.” (Isaiah 43:1c)
Think of it! The Lord of this universe created us for Himself. He redeemed us from our sins by the precious blood of His Son. He made us and He bought us with a huge price, the blood of His Son Jesus Christ. Therefore He has a double claim on our lives.
God called us to be His children. Before the foundation of the world, He chose us in Christ (Ephesians 1:4). “In love He predestined us for adoption through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of HIs will, to the praise of HIs glorious grace, with which He has blessed us in the Beloved” (Ephesians 1:5,6). We are the adopted sons and daughters of God! God chose us to be His children.
God called us to be His beloved children and He has given us great dignity — “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light” (I Peter 2:9). God has made us who we are — His own possession. He called us out of the darkness of our sins and placed us in the marvelous light of the grace and love of His Son.
Yes, we are the people of God — “Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy” (I Peter 2:10). God has made us His people and He has poured out His mercy upon us. Never forget who you are — “I have called you by name, you are Mine.” Never forget how much you are loved — “See what kind of love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are” (I John 3:1). We
Lord, I do not know why You chose me to be Your child. I know how unworthy I am to be a part of Your family. I thank You that You have made me one of Your own and poured our Your mercy upon me. I know that I am deeply loved by You. Thank You for calling me by name and making me Your own possession.
